The tradition of Ikebana flower arrangement has been in practice for centuries, first as a religious ritual to venerate the spirits in Heaven, later it became more of an art form, perhaps a little less religious and more artistic but still retaining a spiritual and philosophical feeling .
At the origine of Ikebana, worshipers would place flowers, flowering branches very informaly in various containers or receptecals
pointing toward Heaven.
Nowday Ikebana is an art form that as strict sets of rules, that are specific on how to combine materials, shapes and colors in certain ways.
